Understanding ADHD in Foster Care: Supporting Connection, Regulation & Everyday Challenges ADHD Ireland is delighted to offer this specialised training session for the foster carers supporting children and young people with ADHD. Foster carers often provide care to children who may experience difficulties with attention, emotional regulation, impulsivity, transitions, and everyday demands. This session helps carers look beyond behaviour and develop a deeper understanding of how ADHD impacts a child’s thoughts, feelings, and responses. Through a compassionate, evidence-informed approach, foster carers will gain practical strategies to support regulation, strengthen relationships, reduce conflict, and build confidence at home and in the wider community. The training explores ADHD through a strengths-based lens, recognising the importance of connection, consistency, and understanding in helping children feel safe, supported, and able to thrive. Delivered by Terri Lloyd Dip MA MBACP is a fully qualified therapeutic counsellor for adolescents and freelance neurodiversity consultant specializing in ADHD. She has over 15 years’ experience of working with teenagers and young people in schools and the voluntary sector providing counselling and therapeutic support and working with charities providing support to parents of children with disabilities. This session provides foster carers with knowledge, reassurance, and practical tools they can use every day.
