Have you been dreaming of your first big international adventure? HI USA is looking for New Travelers! At HI USA, we believe that travel is the best way to understand different cultures! In addition, taking yourself out of your comfort zone also lets you learn about yourself! That’s why we created the Explore the World Travel Scholarship. We want to help young Americans like you take that first step abroad. We know that getting started can be the hardest part. That's why we offer two separate awards to meet you where you are on your travel journey: The Explore the World General Award: Perfect for first-time international travelers who already have a U.S. passport. We'll help you fund a trip with an educational or volunteer focus (even a self-directed adventure!) that includes an authentic hostel stay. The Explore the World: First Passport Edition: Designed for those who have never had a U.S. passport before. We'll guide you through the entire process, from getting your first passport to planning your first hostelling trip, with support from a dedicated volunteer mentor. Join us for a free information session to learn all about it! We'll cover: Program details and eligibilityThe application processPro tips for crafting a strong applicationPlus, we'll have time for all your questions! The application period opens September 30, 2026.
